Ruggedised Displays
GE Aviation has set up a facility to manufacture and test ruggedised displays for high performance applications, found in aerospace, land vehicle, medical, marine and industrial sectors.
The processes involved in the manufacture of ruggedised displays include lamination of anti-reflective coated glass and heater glass onto the display, connection of the display to display interface boards using TAB bonding and assembly of the optical stack and backlight module. The display, once assembled, is subjected to a range of optical (e.g. chromaticity and contrast ratio) and environmental tests (such as thermal cycling and vibration).
