Description
The great seeds of Hulme Community Garden centre were planted in 1999 by three local awesome residents who had a dream and vision of offering the gradually regenerating and calmly growing Hulme with a public green space, and to hearten healthy living through the art of gardening and food growing which is also an ancient forte of human. The broken community would have a central point and anywhere to experience and learn concerning plants and the natural world. Site work initiated in the Spring of 2000 and, as it is now, all work was done by hand and with found and donated materials. With the idea of sustainability and recycling reinforcement everything we do, the garden centre and community gardens arose from a scrubby wasteland and, more recently, a disused car-park. As a not-for –profit organization, profit from sales are driven back into the project in a steady effort to get better the services we offer the local and better community.
