            Description
It’s Denbighshire’s turn to host the National Eisteddfod in 2013 so join us on the outskirts of Denbigh from 2-10 August this year for a most memorable week!

The Eisteddfod is a travelling festival so no two years are the same. There’s a different vibe every time – but always with that same Eisteddfod magic.

Think Edinburgh Fringe crossed with Glastonbury – and then think Wales – and you’ll be halfway to picturing the National Eisteddfod the must-do event in the Welsh festival calendar. A heady mix of music literature culture dance theatre and much more look beyond the traditions and you’ll find a young and vibrant festival with cutting edge fringe activities and one of the best atmospheres in the world!

Steeped in the culture of centuries the National Eisteddfod has its traditions which are an important part of our history and our identity but mix these traditions with open air performance stages an onsite theatre hundreds of activities for children and families over 300 stalls and tradestands and much more with the traditional and alternative coming together perfectly to create an atmosphere that can only be described as ‘Eisteddfod’!

There’s around 150000 visitors every year – and thousands come for the whole week – from all over Wales and beyond. It’s the perfect place to meet new friends and to catch up with the friends you made over a pint on the Maes last year. There’s a warm welcome for everyone at the Eisteddfod whether you speak Welsh or not.

The Eisteddfod is a celebration of the Welsh language but music culture and Welsh ‘hwyl’ can be enjoyed universally and in any language.

If this is your first visit why not download Canllaw our guide for new visitors from the bottom of this page? Use this section of the website to find out more about the Maes and the various activities.

Our activities list will be published in June so remember to come back for a look.
