Dioxin and Furan Analyses
Dioxins and Furans are frequently-utilised terms for polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) respectively. Extensive research activities have provided much evidence that exposure of animals and humans to these toxic agents can give rise to deleterious biochemical and biological effects. Since these environmentally-ubiquitous agents readily accumulate in cells and tissues, dioxins and furans have presented a major environmental concern for more than 20 years. Rhys Biotech Ltd. provides dioxin/furan analysis in support of industrial compliance, federal regulatory/monitoring efforts, and the remedial activities of governmental and civilian engineering companies.

Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AA or AAS) is used for elemental and trace elemental analysis subsequent to the dissolution of the material under investigation into solution. It is frequently used for the assay of metallic alloys, trace additives, heavy metals in biological, clinical and environmental samples, and also a number of non-metallic elements in such samples.
FTIR (Fourier Transform Infra-Red) Spectrometry is focused on the identification and quantification of organic species, including those present at trace levels.
Gas Chromatography (GC) is available for formulation purposes, and also trace level analyses of organic (and selected inorganic) agents, in addition to the the Health and Safety monitoring of agents which are environmental and/or health hazards; this technique is also employed for forensic analysis, eg. illicit drugs, fire accelerants, etc.
High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is employed for the analysis of trace organic agents and ions in aqueous or alternative liquid media.
UV and Visible Spectrophotometer is suitable for trace organic analysis, colourimetric and specular reflection measurements.

270 MHz NMR Spectroscopy is available for the simultaneous multicomponent analysis of a range of specimens and products, including (1) active agents, by-products and trace organic impurities in pharmaceuticals and healthcare products, and (2) food constituents, e.g., the provision of full fatty acid profiles, glycerol backbone substitutional status and lipid oxidation product concentrations in used or unused culinary oils (or further lipidic food matrices) .
